Single Touch Payroll (STP)

You're STP Ready With ClickSuper

Single Touch Payroll is a reporting change for employers that started on 1 July 2018. Employers with 20 or more employees that do not have an ATO deferral will have to report payments such as salaries and wages, pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and superannuation information from your payroll solution each time you pay your employees.

Single Touch Payroll is expected to be expanded to include employers with 19 or less employees from 1 July 2019. With ClickSuper STP, we have Employers and Payroll providers covered to meet their Single Touch Payroll (STP) compliance requirements.

" ClickSuper STP is easy to use and it took only a few minutes to upload the STP file.

Job Centre needed a gateway for STP reporting to the ATO, our payroll software company suggested ClickSuper as one of the gateways available. As we were already using ClickSuper as our super clearing house it made sense to utilise them for the STP gateway as well. In my dealing with ClickSuper I have always found them to be professional and supportive. If we have had any problems ClickSuper have always dealt with them quickly and efficiently to help us sort the issues out. For us ClickSuper is an efficient and affordable solution to both our Super and STP reporting needs "

Frequently Asked Employer STP Questions:

HOW WILL SINGLE TOUCH PAYROLL (STP) AFFECT YOUR BUSINESS?

Currently employers can pay super monthly or quarterly with the super funds reporting the contribution data to the ATO annually.

STP requires super to be reported when each pay run has been processed. This will enable the ATO to calculate a reasonable estimate of employees’ SG entitlements and step in to require employers to pay their SG obligations if they aren’t paying the correct amounts. This will also reduce the ATO’s reliance on employees to report employer non-compliance.

The collection of superannuation contribution data through STP will also enable the ATO to display this information on the employee’s MyGov account, providing Australians with easier access to information about their superannuation via the same government platform that houses much of their taxation, medical and other records.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A BUSINESS BREACHES STP COMPLIANCE?

The Federal Government is also improving the effectiveness of the ATO’s recovery powers, including strengthening director penalty notices and using security bonds for high-risk employers, to ensure that unpaid superannuation is better collected by the ATO and paid directly to employees’ superannuation accounts.

It is expected the ATO will also have the ability to seek court-ordered penalties for employers who are repeatedly caught failing to pay their SG liabilities.

WILL EMPLOYERS NEED TO SUBMIT A PAYMENT SUMMARY ANNUAL REPORT FOR FY ENDING JUNE 2018?

Yes, the EOFY obligations do not change for the FY ending June 2018.

WILL EMPLOYERS NEED TO SUBMIT A PAYMENT SUMMARY ANNUAL REPORT FOR FY ENDING JUNE 2019?

If they use STP reporting, they won’t need to submit a payment summary annual report. The ATO will make that information available to employees through myGov.

IF I BEGIN USING STP AFTER 1 JULY, DO I HAVE TO PLAY CATCH-UP IN REPORTING TO THE ATO?

No. Each STP filing includes all year-to-date payroll information. This feature, along with the ATO deferral, means there won’t be any complications when you begin using STP.

WILL I STILL NEED TO SUBMIT A BAS?

Yes – you’ll still need to submit a BAS, but the W1 and W2 values will be pre-filled

WILL I BE ABLE TO ADJUST THE PRE-FILLED VALUES ON MY BAS?

Yes

DO I NEED TO TEST MY PAYROLL SOLUTION’S STP FILE WITH THE CLICKSUPER SOLUTION?
